Lingerie Fashion Night sees the US launch of Heidi Klum Intimates

CURVExpo, the leading lingerie and swim show in North America and INVISTA have partnered to present Lingerie Fashion Night, an extension of the CURVENY trade show which happened on February 22nd – 24th. ‘Romancing the Runway’ featured a plethora of intimate, sleepwear, loungewear and swim collections, including the launch of Heidi Klum Intimates to the US market.

The catwalk show also featured leading designers and CURVENY exhibitors Addiction Lingerie, AJOUR, Amoena, Anita, Blackspade, Chantelle, Curvy Couture, Eberjey, Empreinte, Evollove, Fayreform, Leonisa, Luna di seta, Maison Lejaby, Marie Jo, Montelle Intimates, Natori, Prima Donna, Simone Perélè , Skarlett Blue, Stella McCartney Lingerie, Wacoal and Zegna.

INVISTA, owner of the Lycra® brand, sponsored the August edition of Moda Lingerie & Swimwear Show, presenting their new brand strategy LYCRA® MOVES YOU™ with four key sub brands: LYCRA® BEAUTY (control/shaping), LYCRA® SPORT (physical/sport), LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ (resilience/durability) and LYCRA® ENERGIZE™ (wellbeing). Moving to the centre of the hall with a strong visual presence with new photography by Rankin, Claire O’Neill, EMEA Marketing Manager, commented: “Moda is the perfect opportunity for INVISTA to showcase innovations from the brand and bring to life the importance of XTRA LIFE LYCRA® fibre.”

The MODA August edition saw an increase of 26 new brands in the line-up presenting their collections. One of the busiest stands was LF Intimates (Charnos and Lepel brands). Steve Hazelhurst commented: “We have had a very good show – Moda is important to us as it offers an opportunity to display the changes that have been made at the company over the last 12 months and buyers have responded very positively.”

In a difficult season and with outrageous weather conditions, the MODA event performed well – the new stand design and contemporary look of the show and catwalks was well appreciated. Event Director, Penny Robinson, announced that the February 2015 event would see the welcome return of Triumph International to the line-up.

INVISTA announces LYCRA® fibre in bio-derived spandex

Logo_Biobased3INVISTA, one of the world’s largest integrated producers of polymers and fibres, reinforce their commitment to its sustainability programme, PLANET AGENDA, today with the announcement of availability of the only commercial offering of a bio-derived spandex that can be used in a wide variety of apparel fabrics and garments.

The spandex will be made up of approximately 70% (by weight) of the new LYCRA® bio-derived spandex fibre coming from a renewable source made from dextrose derived from corn with the advantage of lower CO² emissions than the ‘traditionally’ produced spandex.

Festive figure fretting for UK women

With Christmas and New Year parties upon us women up and down the country will want to look their best for the festive season. However, a survey in support of LYCRA® BEAUTY BRAND shapewear has revealed just how unconfident UK women are with their appearance and figure. Research shows that they spend nearly a third of a year not feeling comfortable at all with how they look, with more than half (54 per cent) spending up to 90 minutes a day fretting and even five per cent spending more than four hours a day worrying about their appearance.

For many women, events like lunch with friends, a new date or a party lead to weeks of stress, as they dread not being able to find a nice outfit to cover their lumps and bumps. Nine out of 10 girls always select an outfit which hides the parts of the body they most dislike or feel least confident about.

Lingerie decisions presents problems too, with ladies taking up to 39 minutes a week deciding what underwear looks best. A further one hour and 26 minutes is lost to women frantically trying to cover up their wobbly bits – something that shapewear can help with.

Research also showed that 48% stated that worrying about whether their wobbly bits are covered takes up most of their time, whilst being overweight is the biggest concern for women, as they fret for up to an hour and 46 minutes each week – not great for feeling confident in their party dresses!

The study also shows the average female spends 50 minutes a week deciding what to wear, and a further one hour and 32 minutes wondering if what they have chosen then looks okay. Shapewear brands that incorporate LYCRA® BEAUTY fabric include Debenhams own brand, Simone Pérèle, Anita, Hanro and Naturana.

As the only global event of its kind in the industry, LYCRA® FIBRE MOVES once again proved a unique opportunity to mix qualified professional updates, business networking and social entertainment – allowing participants to improve their business strategies and embrace the future of the legwear industry. The event held in Verona last week was the third such gathering for the legwear sector. INVISTA presented new technologies aimed at providing new solutions for both quality of colour and dyeing and more comfortable fit.

Living Lights Technology was unveiled to an audience of some 330 visitors from all around the world including knitters, manufacturers and trade press. The Lycra® fibre has been engineered to upgrade the quality of colours in hosiery garments while also reducing shine. It has been developed to optimise colour update whilst delivering acceptable fastness properties. The process requires minimal adaptation at mill level and is already commercially available in 16LL and 17LL.

Also presented during the third Lycra® Fibre Moves Conference was the FREEF!T® technology which is focussed on improving the performance of modern waistbands which is a primary concern for consumers. The new construction gives a much more comfortable waistband that has smoother contours and is virtually invisible.

INVISTA announces 4 finalists in the LYCRA® Future Designers

LYCRA® brand owner INVISTA is delighted to announce the four finalists for the LYCRA® Future Designers Award – part of the WGSN Global Fashion Awards ceremony to take place at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London on 30th October. The finalists in this year’s edition include candidates from four different countries: Lucy Gardener from the UK, Patricia Clariza from the United States, Hanna Lucatelli from Brazil and Han Zhongshu from China.

Participants were invited to submit designs that could be manufactured using LYCRA® fiber products, along with mood boards and supporting documentation making their case. Entries needed to be made up of any of the following categories of apparel: intimates, swim, active sportswear or hosiery/tights.

Lucy from the UK is thrilled to have made the final. She said, “I can’t quite believe it! It’s really great to have the recognition especially as I am in the process of starting up Fierlan, a women’s cycling clothing company. I loved working with LYCRA® fibre as they offered all the performance benefits, whilst creating the flattering look I was aiming for. I am looking forward to developing more women’s performance cycling garments for my brand and being a finalist for this award has given me just the push I needed!”

For the fifth edition of WGSN Global Fashion Awards and LYCRA® Future Designers, one outstanding student or graduate designer will receive the chance to work with expert mentors at INVISTA and overall consultancy.
